A spectrum is between two poles. Sex is a binary, people are a spectrum.

Given sex predates the split between flora and fauna, it's not something easily canceled.

The real problem is that our culture is theologically monolithic, rather than multicultural. Remember democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures and Rome only adopted Christianity to validate the Empire and shed reminders of the Republic. The Big Guy rules.

Logically a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. More the light shining through the film, than the images on it.

Treating ideals as absolute obviously empowers the most fanatic and obsessed.

Yet given how deeply ingrained the premise of a monolithic worldview is imprinted in the West, all the various ideologies to develop in the long shadow of God have tended to treat their ideals as absolutes.

So when various minority groups are being weaponized in a larger cultural war, with little understanding of where all this energy and funding is really coming from, the blowback will also be on them.

Much as the Ukrainians are finding out, after the cool kids in the West told them to go and poke the Russian bear, that the cool kids are not coming to their rescue.
