A thought about time;
As mobile organisms, we have a sequential process of perception, which we are constantly sorting and ordering as a function of navigation. As humans, we have a narrative based culture arising from this dynamic, so we think of time as the point of the present, moving past to future.
The reality is that change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, in order to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy.
Different clocks run at different rates because they are separate actions. We assume there should be some universal time, because civilization has been a process of getting everyone following the same narrative, playing by the same rules, using the same measures, etc.
Time is an effect, like temperature, pressure, color, noise, etc. Think frequencies and amplitudes.
Energy is “conserved,” thus always and only present, because its changing configuration creates the effect of time, so there is no past for it to recede into, nor future from which it arrives.
The energy, as process, goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past.
As consciousness goes past to future, while thoughts and feelings go future to past, like so many waves rising and falling, as the energy goes onto other waves.
Lives go birth to death, while the process of life goes onto the next generation, shedding the old.
Three dimensions only map space, like longitude, latitude and altitude map the biosphere of this planet.
If all physical properties are removed from space, it still has the non-physical qualities of infinity and equilibrium. Infinity, as there is nothing to bound it and equilibrium is implicit in GR, as the frame with the fastest clock and longest ruler is closest to the equilibrium of the vacuum. The unmoving void of absolute zero.
So space is the absolute and the infinite.
What fills space is this energy and the forms it manifests, like frequencies and amplitudes arise as the energy of the wave expresses its limits, or a flower fills out the genetics of the seed.
Energy radiates outward, toward infinity, while form coalesces inward, toward equilibrium. Consequently the cosmic convection cycles of galaxies.
As these organic beings, we have the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us on, while the central nervous system sorts through and further coalesces the information precipitating out.
So we tend to think of time as linear, but that’s like seeing the earth as flat. The larger reality are these thermodynamic feedback loops circulating through everything.
What goes round, comes round.
