After a few billion years of evolution, our minds are finely tuned to extract useful signals from the noise.
So now, here we are and wondering where we are going. The political narratives are looking pretty threadbare. Hollywood tells us it's about magical powers we don't seem to have. The tech lords say it's artificial intelligence, robots and space travel, from here on out. The bankers tell us it's really about fatter bank accounts.
Yet the only context for these signals is the noise we cast aside. Our minds see signals, but our bodies seek energy and just enough not to be totally blown up by it.
Even if we have totally sterilized our lived experience, in order to feel safe and reduced all signal to the most efficient systems, are we really going anywhere, or just getting ever more lost?
Maybe we need to reevaluate what is signal and what is noise. We might have it all backwards.
