You seriously need to go back and study up on the last 50, oh, 120 years of this movement. Think Billy Graham and company. It is the cultural glue for that part of the country. Think those Herefordshire hicks in the UK, armed with guns, not just knives. It doesn't matter what country it is, there has to be some cultural locus and focus around which the crowd gathers and the bigger the crowd, the more simple it better be.

These people have been told that Jesus Saves and Jesus is coming back and the recreation of Israel is a sign of his impending return. Frankly it probably goes much deeper into the cultural vibe than Black/White relations, as Black and Whites know each other and each other's communities, even if they are separate. Bob Dylan made the point decades ago, from working in and around the folk music business, that Jim Crow laws were really intended to keep poor whites from identifying with blacks along class lines, after the Civil War, as a form of divide and conquer.

You, on the other hand, are playing one of those Arab Terrorists the military industrial complex has spent the last 30+ years promoting as the next boogyman, after the fall of the Soviet Union. Many of these sorts of people served in that very military. Many of them passing through bases in Iraq and Afghanistan, both black and white Americans. Shooting the occasional villager and looking out for IED's. Probably at least one, if not both of those pumped up cops.

So combine that with the religion they got in their Evangelist churches and from parents and grandparents. Hallelujah. Praise be the Lord.

These are boxes you don't want to mix up. You need better situational awareness than that.

My daughter spent 4 years teaching "special needs" high school in Memphis, as a prelude to going into juvenile public defense. Which meant those with one foot in jail. There are some good people, Black, White and Mexican, but they all have guns, good, bad and in-between.

Don't think of it as racism, think of it as tribalism, with that absolutist tinge(on roids), courtesy of monotheism.
