As mobile, intentional organisms, we have a sequential thought process, then narrate our journeys and build civilizations out of the collected knowledge, so this progression from past to future is elemental to our reality. Physics even codifies it as measures of duration.

The reality though, is change turning future to past. Potential, actual, residual. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.

Duration is this dynamic physical state, as events coalesce and dissolve.

There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, in order to inform it, aka, causality and conservation of energy.

This doesn’t make reality singular though, so much as a dichotomy of the energy manifesting this present state and the forms it manifests.

The energy, as process, goes past to future, while the forms generated go future to past. Consciousness goes past to future, while thoughts go future to past.

Lives go birth to death, while life goes onto the next generation, shedding the old.

Products go start to finish, while the production line goes the other way, consuming material and expelling product.

The feedback is the patterns define and direct the process.

Look at galaxies; Energy radiating out, as form coalesces in. Our bodies have the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us on, along with the central nervous system to sort through the forms and information precipitating out, as well as referee the emotions and impulses bubbling up. Desires, versus judgement.

Society is that tension between organic energies bubbling up, versus civil and cultural forms coalescing in. Youth and age, liberal and conservative.

Just because everything is connected, doesn’t make it one, because it then becomes form and only coalesces in. Resulting in absolutism.

The absolute is balanced by the infinite, so while form coalesces to the equilibrium of the absolute, where all form balances out, energy radiates to infinity, where all form fades out. We fluctuate somewhere in the middle.

Nodes and networks. When we quantize everything, we lose the connections and it all breaks down. Like monetizing everything.

It is not information versus chaos, but information versus the energy manifesting it. Energy is analog, like waves, while information is digital, thus distinct.

So it’s information all the way down, but it’s energy all the way up.
