As someone who found common ground with the New Age back when it was fairly new, the 70's, the relationship you are developing, but is obscured by the history, is between Western and Eastern paradigms.
Between object oriented, linear, goal seeking and contextual, cyclical, feedback generated.
God Almighty versus yin and yang.
In the West, we think in terms of objects, Gods, individuals, atoms, nations, tribes, etc.
Where in the East, the node is relational to its network.
Science is very Western, in the sense it assumes some godlike objectivity, even if the notion of a god is considered unfashionable. While the Eastern view takes that interplay between opposites as the reality.
Consider that even "matter" is more positive and negative charge, than any actual "material."
In the West we think of the future as in front and the past behind, because we see ourselves as distinct entities moving through our environment, while the Eastern view is the past is in front and the future behind, because what is in front and the past are known, while what is behind and the future are unknown. Which accords with the fact we see events after they occur, then the energy transisitons to other events and observers, because we are one with our context.
The fact is that time is not so much the point of the present, moving past to future, that we experience as mobile organisms navigating our environment, as it is change turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
Energy is "conserved," because it creates time, as well as temperature, pressure, color and sound. Time is frequency, events are amplitude.
So energy, as present and process, goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past. In terms of a wave, the energy drives it, while the ripples rise and fall.
Like consciousness goes past to future, while thoughts go future to past. Though it is the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy, feeding the flame, while the central nervous system sorts the information.
Yet Western science is all about the information, so everything is either order or chaos. Consequently we spend endless lives turning infinite chaos into random, finite bits of order, ignoring the fact that random order is chaos.
It goes in circles and we wonder why.
A spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell.
Ideals are aspirational, while absolutes are elemental. The West is determined to find that ultimate ideal.
Not going to happen.
Like galaxies, the energy expands out, toward infinity, as the order coalesces in, toward equilibrium. Both entropic.
Cosmic convection cycles.
