At this point, the only thing really holding this country together is the dollar, given the degrees of social atomization, with financialization as the metastatic network tying it together.
So what happens when the dollar does hyper-inflate, given there is no political will to slow that dynamic?
Then states will have to step in and start issuing their own currencies. Which will start them on the path to sovereignty.
The fact remains that the United States military/industrial complex has evolved into a form of societal autoimmune disorder, growing out of the industrial benefits of World War 2.
It can't be turned off. The Russians had their reality check, with the fall of the Soviet Union and we are heading the same direction, but we don't have a core culture and state, with thousands of years of history to fall back on, just a couple hundred years of growth, kept going with forty years of compounding debt.
