Ben,

You’re missing the big picture. The extremes of passion, insight, addiction, whatever, are set off by the mundane. If everything was reaching for the stars, then reaching for the stars would be the normal and thus mundane.

If the highs are what one is seeking, either practice one thing to perfection, or become a polymath do various things interestingly well.

Rubbing other’s faces in their inadequacies isn’t a way to get high, just push others down.
