Beyond all the tribalism, there is a more elemental dynamic at work.

Government, as executive and regulatory function, is analogous to the nervous system, while money and banking serve as the blood and circulation system of society.

The problem with having public government and private banking is that banking rules. Weakened oversight and no elections to deal with.

Consequently it has reached the point the flunkies financed to serve in government only have one purpose, to create the debt the banks need to function. To store the asset side of the ledger, a debt has to back it, so the secret sauce of capitalism is public debt backing private wealth.

The Federal debt has been growing since the New deal, so not only was Roosevelt putting unemployed labor back to work, but unemployed capital as well. Then WW2 came along as the greatest public works project in history and the die was cast.

The MIC is the trophy wife of the banks. That is why our military misadventures of the last 70 years have been so monumentally inept and no one is taken out and shot. Their function is not to win wars, but simply burn through the borrowed money, so more can be borrowed.

The problem is that since government is the actual decision making function, neutering it creates a dynamic that has all the strategic aptitude of bacteria racing across a petri dish.

As any vestige of statesmenship faded a generation ago, we have gone from stage actors to psychopaths, because these people are given enormous power, but no real authority. So they are like children with matches, trying to get attention and no moral responsibility for the results.

Unfortunately bullshit only gets you so far, because the basis of a strong society is respect, responsibility and trust. When the social contract is lost....

The mother of all reality checks is in the mail.

Even the RAND Corp sees it.

So either we go forward, to public banking, or go back, to some form of private government, to keep the oligarchs in check. As Russia and China have done, with Putin and Xi as respective CEO's.
