But it lays the larger argument out a bit more fully. The situation of the West being that it is conveniently geographically set up as nations as nodes. Rather then in the East, where there were not the same sort of geographic boundaries, so the tribes evolved into nations more fluidly. Such that Russia and China can function as actual countries in ways the EU can only imagine.

So in the West, Diaspora Judaism served a significant part of the networking mechanisms, the traders, bankers, lawyers, along with the fields helped by those broader networks, doctors, scientists, etc. Essentially a large part of European cosmopolitanism.

While Jews in the East and South tended to remain more tribal, as one of the various ethnicities.

Though that desire to have one's own nation didn't evolve as much as the culture did. Too many shamans(rabbis) and not enough chieftains. So when Israel was resurrected, it was missing that 2000 years of civil evolution. Of both dealing with the neighbors and moderating the internal tensions, between the anarchies of desire, versus the tyrannies of judgement.

Quite evident before Oct7th, with the centripetal and centrifugal aspects of Israeli society definitely at odds.

I realize you might assume I am picking on Judaism, aka, antisemitic, but for me, it is a much bigger puzzle and the various brands of cultures all play roles.

Basically I'm just knocking on doors and trying out ideas, because there is going to be lots of broken china, when all is said and done and the ones left will have to figure out how to put it back together in some form.
