Civil war. It is certainly unfortunate to live in the geo-political fault line between East and West. Obviously neither side will ultimately prevail, given these conflicts go back thousands of years, so it's a matter of waiting until everyone is exhausted, the fire burns out and where the lines are drawn for the next few decades.
The deeper reality is that while for cultures and most people, good and bad are a cosmic conflict between the forces of righteousness and evil, while in nature it is the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental, the 1/0 of sentience. What is good for the fox, is bad for the chicken.
This is because societies have to function as a single organism, especially in times of stress, so the social immune response kicks in, against any dissident opinions.
Unfortunately reality is a function of contrasts. There is no positive charge without negative charge, no good without bad, up without down, left without right, East without West.
We are linear, goal oriented organisms in a cyclical, circular, reciprocal, feedback generated reality.
Though there is no longer safety in numbers, with weapons of mass destruction.
