Consider what the "hard" sciences and math assume; That the highest goal is to find some ultimate order.
Signal in the noise. So reality is perceived in terms of order and chaos.
Where do they look? The microcosmic, the macrocosmic and the abstract.
Why? Became that is where order and structure can most easily be brought into focus. All the stuff in the middle, the biology, sociology, society, culture, etc. is chaotic and often seemingly arbitrary, or at least too complex to unravel.
Yet are they really, "seeing the mind of God," or simply what is most distinct?
Given these fields tend to be reductionist, especially math, consider that if you were to boil a body down to its most stable structure, you would have the skeleton, not the egg from which it grew.
So is the underlaying premise flawed? Our minds are designed to extract signal from the noise, in order to navigate our environment and make decisions as which way to go. Yet consider my point about energy and order, that energy generates the patterns of order.
So if you start with the assumption of order as the highest goal, you look at the patterns, more than the processes generating them. Epicycles really were brilliant math, as description of our view of the cosmos, but the crystalline spheres were lousy physics, as explanation.
Similarly General Relativity is brilliant math, but spacetime is lousy physics, as explanation.
For one thing, the idea of block time is nonsense. We are not going to be time traveling though wormholes in the fabric of spacetime, with the right application of mathematical faerie dust. The past no longer physically exists, because cause becomes effect.
Three spatial dimensions are a mapping device, like longitude, latitude and altitude. Are they foundational to the biosphere of this planet, or a mapping device?
Maps are not the territory and if they tried to incorporate all the information of the territory, they would be useless, because they would revert back to being noise, not a useful signal.
The problem for the sciences is they fall prey to the same social, group dynamics of herds. To be a member, you have to go the general direction the group is going, or you are not part of the group. Unfortunately what decides the direction is prior direction, so the older members educate/indoctrinate the younger members in the canon. Then it is only when the paradigm has been pushed far beyond the point of reductio ad absurdum, that there can be some deeper examination of the paradigm and then only down to an acceptable level, for the group.
So it's not just that I'm trying to explain society in terms of the science, but also pointing out the sciences have to be understand in terms of both society and our physiological makeup.
It's not order and chaos, it's energy and form.
To a previous point you made, that centrifugal spirals out, but what I'm referring to is basic expansion. Actually centrifugal is the centripetal energy breaking down. Yes, the marble on the turntable will spiral as it moves out, but that is because it's still sticking to the turntable. When it falls off, it just moves out in a line. Like a stone from a sling, it spins until it's released.
Atomic energy is bound up in a spinning/vibrating attachment of positive and negative charge, but when the bounds break, the energy explodes out, no spiraling.
