Cultures tend to see good and bad as some cosmic conflict between righteousness and evil, while in nature good and bad are the basic biological binary of beneficial and detrimental. The 1/0 of sentience. What is good for the fox, is bad for the chicken.

This is because societies need to function as a larger organism, especially in times of stress.

The problem is that while our social instincts are primordial and our cultural institutions are medieval, our weaponry is very modern. There is no safety in numbers, when it comes to nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

So when the powers that be, of any country, try herding their peoples to war, it behooves those people to look beyond the jingoism.

Our country is largely motivated by the profit motive and the wars we so often find ourselves in, are also driven by the profit motive. How else to explain why they have so often been such strategic failures and no one is held accountable.

Who else, beyond the military industrial complex, has benefited from bombing Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, etc, into rubble? Unfortunately Ukraine will suffer the same fate and those pushing it will move onto some other conflagration.
