Dave,
While I'm not sure any political mechanism will solve our current problems, until we come to understand a healthy society is based on collective responsibility, with rights as reward, I too do feel there are a lot of profoundly effective solutions out there and our current wave will keep crashing, until enough of us start riding the next wave back up, but that goes to issues of patience and the basic, organic processes by which nature works.
So, yes, many of the writers here are more interested in immediate attention and the immediate rewards, but as the old saying goes, he who laughs last, laughs best.
When you believe you are moving in the direction that will work in the long run, don't get too bothered by the crap you have to climb over. You might die before the world gets where you think it ought to be, but life is a dance, not a race.
Like a sentence, the end is just punctuation. What matters is how well you tie the rest of the story together.
When the history books are written, they will remember those who saw the possibilities, not those running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
Move forward.
