I understand about neighbors not liking each other, but we have been using these regional conflicts all over the world for decades, to keep people divided.

Think in terms of Muslim Sunnis and Shiites and how we used it to push war in the Middle East.

Now the Saudis and the Iranians are starting to realize their emotions have been used against them and are starting to realize who is causing the troubles.

After a decade or two, when they have become too exhausted to fight, Ukraine and Russia will still be neighbors and the United States will still be on the other side of the planet.
