Every culture and society needs that core set of ideals. Code, creed, heroes, narratives, etc. Basically a center of gravity.

While the essence of the social organism is synchronization, the essence of the larger ecosystem is harmonization. As there are as much centrifugal and centripetal elements at work.

Even galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in.

The problem, not only for Judaism, but the entire West, is the universal is the elemental, not the ideal.

A spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. More the light shining through and animating the film, than the narrative playing out on it.

Democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures. The family and cycle of life as godhead. Going back to primordial fertility rites, where the young god was born in the spring, to the old sky god and the earth mother. Though by the age of the Olympians, Zeus didn't give way to Dionysus. Tradition prevailed over renewal. Much as the old are often loathe to give way to the young.

Which provided fertile ground for the story of Jesus to take root.

To the Ancients, monotheism equated with monoculture. One people, one rule one god. Ancient Israel was a monarchy. Sort of like the religion. The Big Guy Rules.

When Rome adopted Christianity, is was for the monotheism, as the Empire was rising from the ashes of the Republic. The Big Guy Rules.

The origins of the Trinity shrouded by the Holy Ghost, as the Catholic Church didn't do resets, or women, for that matter.

When the West went back to democracy and republicanism it required separation of church and state, culture and civics.

While our technology has evolved, much of culture is still stuck back in the Bronze Age. Tribalism trumps logic.
