Feedback loops with no circuit breakers.
Aka, an echo chamber.
When it's millions of people, it's not so much culture and politics, as biology and physics.
One way to counter cultural narcissism is to look at it as objectively as possible.
Like one might examine the goings on in a petri dish.
It would seem the political situation has become increasingly isolated, ie, delusional. Much like what is happening in the US.
While the threats toward Lebanon might be described as posturing to get Hezbollah to back down, it is evident they have dug in entirely to resist any such pressure.
Which would mean the Israelis either have to back down themselves, or go to war. Given the disconnect, it looks like war is the better bet.
In which case, the only real card Israel has up its sleeve are the nukes. The Samson option.
Should they expand it to Iran, it seems likely "from the river to the sea" will be a bombed out hole in the ground.
So the question is, what circuit breakers to that feedback loop are possible?
It doesn't seem a firm no from the US is in the cards.
Netanyahu's speech to congress looks to align with about as long as he will put it off. If that long.
Possibly an economic crisis in the US, combined with the unfolding political meltdown, might throw some sand in the gears.
Interesting times.
