"Floaters" are others consciousness intersecting our own perceptual bubbles. Many people see them, but very few are willing to examine or discuss them.

Which is a sociological phenomena, that will need its own examination.

Given much of reality is composed of waves, it should be considered that waves tend to either synchronize, which is inherently centripetal, or harmonize, which is effectively centrifugal. So there are nodes and networks, organisms and ecosystems, particles and fields.

Consequently in order to function as groups, people need those basic common denominators to synchronize around, no matter how arbitrary or arcane. Religous beliefs and habits are an obvious example, but language is the most elemental construct. That we use various sounds to refer to common observations and artifacts, but which are only arbitrary habits that evolved over time and drew people together, synchronizing their perceptions.
