I certainly agree we need a different model, just that we need to look outside the narrative framework, on which culture is effectively based. You even tentatively question Big Bang theory, which assumes a timeline of the entire universe. I also agree it is deeply flawed, along with the mathmatism which physics seems to take as foundational, rather than just modeling. It is the stone they are setting it in.

As these linear, goal oriented creatures, we get on a path and then it becomes a race, but life is more of a dance. Temperature, pressure, color and sound are as foundational as time.
