Here is an idea;
We are mobile organisms, necessitating a sequential process of perception and have evolved a narrative based civilization from sharing our experiences.
So we experience time as the point of the present moving past to future.
The reality is that change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present. Cause becomes effect.
So time is an effect, like temperature, pressure, color, sound. Frequencies and amplitudes. Time is frequency, events are amplitude.
Different clocks can run at different rates simply because they are spearate actions.
That civilization is all about getting everyone following the same rules, dancing the same tunes, using the same measures, it might seem like there is one universal, Newtonian time, but there is rabbit time, turtle time, tree time, etc.
Yet when everyone is playing the same game, for the same goals, it becomes a race and everyone is on rabbit time. Though the turtle is still plodding along, long after the rabbit has died.
If we want to get along with nature and save some of it, we need to tune ourselves to her pace, not expect her to keep up with our pace.
