How about start with a very simple idea?
That our concept of time as the point of the present, moving past to future, is an artifact of the fact that as mobile organisms, our experience of our world consists of a sequence of perceptions, based on the orignal need to navigate.
So time really is an effect of change turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
Like seeing the cosmos spinning east to west, before realizing it's the earth turning west to east.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Conservation of energy and causality. Cause becomes effect.
So energy is conserved, because it is manifesting the present, creating time, as well as temperature, pressure, color and sound. Time is frequency, events are amplitude.
Consequently the energy, as present, goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past. Energy drives the wave, while the fluctuations rise and fall.
Now consider how this is manifesting these experiments, as we gather up current forms of energy and throw them at each other, then measure the information that emerges from the event. Which creates patterns and quickly recedes into the files of stored information. While the scientists, accelerators and energy move onto other events.
So the energy and ANY information extracted from its actions ARE NOT SYNONYMOUS! They are going opposite directions of time.
Now think of how it's being framed, that there are all these distinct particles, waves, quanta, etc. All separate, distinct and fundamental. Yet what is the reality? An event occurs, some bit of pattern is recorded and the reality moves on, even if the scientist's minds are still wrapped around the bits of information.
Our minds are designed to sort signal from the noise, so our perception is of order and chaos, but the real distinction is between the energy and the information it is generating. That's not just particle physics, occurring in particle accelerators. That is what we live every moment of our lives.
Consciousness also goes past to future, as the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form and structure go future to past.
