I did try to contextualize Christianity and Islam.

The fact is that no one person has the mental capacity to know everything, so either we study everything about a particular subject in detail, or we generalize and cross reference all those fields.

Given it is easier to focus on a particular subject in detail, than try figuring out how the bigger picture fits together, it is more popular.

Then those who specialize tend to see their field as possibly larger, or more important than it might be, because they have devoted all their attention to it.

So generalizing is not popular, but if no one tries to see the bigger picture, then the effect is some global Tower of Babel, where everyone talks in different languages, past each other and no one really has much sense of anything beyond their particular field, or even how it fits in that larger reality.

So while I understand generalizing isn't popular, I still think it becomes necessary.

Remember, the people leading armies are called generals, while specialist is about one rank above private.
