I don't know that anything is truly "artificial." Maybe toxic. What's more artificial than than plastic and its made from hydrocarbons. All those fossil fuels are hundreds of millions of years of living, dying and decaying, into pure carbon.
Intellectually we try to extract order, but doesn't nature coalesce order out of chaos, aka, noise anyway? It uses and sheds energy in the process.
Fusion.
So then what does the energy do? It radiates out, across surrounding structures, forms, serving to balance out the overall state, thus harmonizing it. Even if the radiated energy is considered "entropy."
So what is "order," but ever more defined and organized structure. Synchronizing it, as anything out of synchronicity is outside the form and thus shed.
Our problem isn't so much that we are outside of the natural cycles, but that we waste our resources in ways that have no long term benefit to the ecosystem.
For one thing we focused our reductionist, materialist concept of reality into these bottom line notational receipts called money. While money serves as a contract, enabling economic exchange, we treat it as a commodity to mine from the economy and store. Since storing the asset side of the ledger requires a debt on the other side, our world revolves around running up enormous debts to back this obligation that has no actual value, beyond mountains of debt that can never be repaid.
Yet our belief is that a big bank account is evidence of our worth, knowledge and status.
Now if we better understood the cycles, we would know that circuit breakers are necessary to keep the bullshit from spiraling out of control.
Or nature applies those circuit breakers, aka, reality checks.
