I grew up around more horses and cattle than people, so my frame of reference is not really eastern philosophy, but a life spent outside. It is just that I find the dialectic a useful tool to describe the dynamic.
It seems that when it is framed with a monolithic focus, whether it's monotheism, math, materialism, money, etc. the effect is to spiral down some rabbit hole, rather than balance out the larger context and understand where the various parts fit.
