I have to admit my forays into Western philosophy tended to see the signals being lost back in the noise.
The primary problem seems to go to the issue of time.
As mobile organisms, this sentient interface the body has with its situation operates as a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate, so our sense of time is as the present moving past to future. This is further compounded culturally, as each generation builds on the prior generations structures of knowledge, like rings of a tree, so this flow of time becomes as foundational human knowledge as the earth is to a geocentric cosmology.
Yet the evident reality is that activity and the resulting change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
It is like a tapestry being woven of strands constantly being pulled from what was woven.
Energy is conserved, because it manifests this presence, creating time, temperature, pressure, color and sound. Frequencies and amplitudes, rates and degrees.
So the energy goes past to future, because the patterns generated come and go, future to past. Energy drives the wave, the fluctuations rise and fall. No tiny strings necessary.
Consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form and structure come and go, future to past.
Though it is the digestive system processing the energy, feeding flame, while the nervous system sorts the information, with the circulation system as feedback in the middle.
Thus the intellectual focus on the information first, then the processes generating it second.
One way to explore this relationship between energy and form, is to recognize that galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in. Both essentially entropic.
While space is currently conceived as three dimensional, that is really just a mapping device, like longitude, latitude and altitude.
The conceptual parameters of space are infinity and equilibrium. Which is implicit in the fact the frame with the longest ruler and fastest clock would be closest to the equilibrium of the vacuum. The unmoving void of absolute zero. So basically zero and infinity.
While it might seem obvious energy expanding toward infinity would be entropic, it would also seem a logical conclusion the structures generated would also collapse toward equilibrium, given they are composed of energy that seeks to escape any such boundaries.
The mechanism would seem to be synchronization. One big wave is more efficient than lots of small waves. Consider anything actually falling into black holes is shot out the poles as quasars, which are like giant lasers and lasers are synchronized light waves. So this light also goes toward infinity.
As humans, this seemingly material world is where the feedback loops are most complex. Yet the same basic relationship applies. Whether it is the energies of youth versus the lessons of age, the anarchies of desire versus the tyrannies of judgment, the social energies of liberalism versus the civil and cultural forms of conservatism.
When we look at the relationships between nodes and networks, organisms and ecosystems, synchronization is the basis of the node, as everything has to be on the same general wavelength to work as a whole, while the essence of the network is harmonization, as all the entities rise and fall like so many waves across infinity. With resonance as feedback in the middle.
One of the many issues in current cosmology is Dark Matter. That there is far more gravitational effect, than mass to explain it. Yet gravity is this cosmic centripetal dynamic. What if the properties we refer to as mass are simply intermediate effects of the feedback between energy and form? Such that mass is an effect of gravity, not gravity a property of mass?
Being tactile, object oriented creatures, we are very object and goal oriented, so such singular "things" are as central to our sense of reality, from atoms to individuals, as the earth is to our view of the cosmos.
It should be noted that while the Western sense of time is of the future in front and the past behind the observer, in the East and Native America, it is reversed and the past is in front and the future behind, as what is seen is in front and what is known is past, while the unseen is behind and the unknown is in the future.
While Western culture is focused on the individual as an object, so it is moving through its context, toward the future and away from the past.
While the more contextual reality is that we see events after they occur, then the energy moves onto other observers and subsequent events.
In a sense, we haven't really internalized the implications of the earth being round, not flat.
