I have to say, I never was very fascinated by horse racing, just grew up in a family of trainers and spent my life working with horses. In my few, early efforts to escape, I realized the people outside this bubble are far crazier, with far bigger rabbit holes, so I stuck with what I knew.
I find keeping in fairly constant motion is what keeps me sane. As the saying goes, life is like riding a bicycle. You keep moving forward, or you fall over.
If that stairway to heaven doesn't descend, the blood on the hands will need explaining. It has been televised.
I guess my point of view is from the US. Given the degree to which a fairly homogenized Christianity is the national religion, in which "The Second Coming" is like the singularity, it is going to be more of that Big Crash. The bubbles bursting.
