I suspect the cracks go all the way to the foundations.

As I pointed out about Europe, culture and civics are inherently conservative, as the centripetal elements holding society together.

What modern liberalism, the whole woke, deconstructionist movement is, is a calcification and institutionalization of the counter culture of the 60's and 70's, when us baby boomers were in our formative years.

Yet as it is conceptually anarchic, there really isn't any civic and social core, other than the various power players, oligarchs, political parties, government bureaucracies, military, corporations, media, think tanks, etc. So there really isn't a functional concept of a state to hold it all together.

Given DEI is the fig leaf behind which these parasites hide, like NATO hiding behind the Ukrainians, they can't really afford to toss Harris and if Trump went lawfare on them, many of the charges wouldn't be hard to make and would stick, given reasonably objective judges.

So the panic is real, the factions will start fighting amongst themselves and there is no telling how far they will go, to keep it going.
