I think a few more layers of understanding would be available when the problem of time is explored.

That we are mobile organisms is the logical basis for this sequence of perceptions by which fauna experience their reality, as a consequence of the need to navigate their environment. Which has evolved in humanity as an overactive imagination, in order to project possible options and consequences as far as we can.

So this flow of events, of the present moving past to future, is the basis of our conscious perception. Which physics codifies as measures of duration.

Yet the reality is that change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns. Duration is the present, as the events unfold.

There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.

Energy is conserved because it is only present. It creates time, as well as temperature, pressure, colors, sounds. Frequencies and amplitudes. Time is frequency, events are amplitude.

Ideal gas laws correlate volume with temperature and pressure, but we don't call them the 5th and 6th dimensions of space, because they are only foundational to our emotions and bodily functions, not the sequence of thought.

So it is the energy, as process and present, that goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past.

In terms of a wave, the energy drives it, as it passes through, while the fluctuations rise and fall, future to past.

Consider the physical implications of energy and virtually any information that can be extracted from it are not synonymous, but go opposite directions of time. Which is a subject in itself, as even galaxies are energy radiating out, toward infinity, while form coalesces in, toward equilibrium. both entropic.

Yet also consider the fact that consciousness goes past to future, while perceptions, emotions and thoughts come and go, future to past.

Though it is the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy, feeding the flame, while the central nervous system sorts the infromation. Which creates an evident bias toward considering reality in terms of the information defining it, rather than the energy manifesting it.

Then consider the implications of consciousness as a form of energy, making it causal. Which explains why it is constantly probing and examining every aspect of its relationship to experience. Much as the mind often has trouble turning off at night, or children naturally push every possibility and why people can never be fully domesticated to absolute authority.

Which is several subjects as well.

For example, as spiritual absolute would necessarily be th essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell.

Conflating the ideal, which is aspirational, with the absolute, which is elemental, results in the presumption that one's ideals should be unquestioned and universal, rather than unique expressions of personal or communal desire, thus myriad ideologies, all in conflict.

We are that tension and feedback between the anarchies of desire and the tyrannies of judgement. Energy and form. Heart and head.

Yin and yang.
