I think it's general, as in beyond the categories of literature or science. Nodes and networks, organisms and ecosystems.
Think how religious and political movements tend to be either fanatically focused on some core ideal, person, code, even though it often can't be explained, because any description would detract from the ideal.
Or they reach the other way, for some expansive, karmic belief system where it all comes out in the wash.
Think of something as simple as describing a chair, in that we reduce it to its most basic components, yet this totally lacks any context and thus explanation, because that's the network in which it exists, rather than the specific object of the chair.
Then there is the feedback between the two, essentially thermodynamic feedback loops between the energy driving a system and the forms and layers of forms it expresses. Like waves, instead of rising ad falling, laying down the residue of the cycles of expansion and consolidation. The seasons rising ad falling, leaving the residue to build the next layer.
Maybe ask yourself what it is you are looking for? What signal in the noise, truth in the chaos? What pot of gold at the end of the narrative arc?
Yet are they not distilled little nodes in the sea of the networks?
Maybe it's more journey, than destination. Though the occasional rest stop, mountain top gives some sense of clarity and accomplishment.
At 62, I guess I've been around the cycle enough, to appreciate the valleys and the flow, as much, if not more than the peaks and the stops.
