I think many of our underlaying beliefs, assumptions, psychology, etc. are undeveloped, if not flawed and patched. Though it seems that most people quickly go back into their comfort zones when it is pointed out.
Consider time;
As mobile organisms, this sentient interface our body has with its situation functions as a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate, so our experience of time is as the present moving past to future.
It is the basis of culture and civilization, as narrative and history. Physics codifies it as measures of duration.
The evident reality is that activity and the resulting change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
It is like a tapestry being woven of strands being pulled from what was woven.
Those at the intellectual pinnacles of society, the academics, are products of studying prior thoughts and observations, as those they learned from did as well. Going back to the dawn of history. So that narrative flow is as foundational to this mindset, as the earth is to a geocentric cosmology.
Of which epicycles were a brilliant mathematical model, but the crystalline spheres were lousy physical cause.
Which leads to the next point, that our mental models are inherently subjective, but which we assume must ultimately be objective, if we can just figure out all the details.
The map is not the territory, because if it tried to incorporate too much information, the signal would be lost back into the noise. It has to serve a purpose, or it is just so much noise anyway. Think academic papers.
So they break down over infinities and disappear at zero. Everything in between is relational.
An objective point of view is an oxymoron.
Whether it is God, or math.
The universal is the elemental. The essence from which we rise, not some ideal from which we fell.
The more complex it gets, the more subjective it gets.
Larger, more complex models start including conflicts, opposites, contrasts, patches, etc. that cause fractures and breakdowns. So it becomes cycles of building out and breaking down. Then constructing the next model from the broken pieces that can be fit together, of prior models, multiplying the general chaos and lack of stability.
Much of our basic concepts are based on what amounts to a flat earth model, but we live on this round planet. Linear, goal seeking organisms in a cyclical, circular, reciprocal, feedback generated reality.
Given that what are picked up as signal from the noise, are what most readily resonates and synchronizes with our prior beliefs and knowledge, it is a centripetal process of sorting. Everything increasingly on the same wave length.
Yet that creates a feedback loop, that unchecked by any circuit breakers, spirals into obsessive compulsiveness.
The networks within which all these nodes exist, trade energy around, creating an overall harmony.
Galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in.
So we live in this evolved reality where multiples of components have developed ways to synchronize and function as larger wholes, whether it is the organs in our bodies, or the sectors of society and the economy.
Though in human society, given this lack of understanding the larger functions, various sectors, from the basic nervous system of government, to the medium of money and banking, as the blood and circulation of society, will spiral inward and destroy the larger social organism.
I could go on, but either this has piqued your interest, or you have tuned out.
