Which gives it far more leverage over the financial medium otherwise farming the capitalist ecosystem.

As the old saying goes; When you owe the bank a hundred dollars, you are in trouble. When you owe the bank a million dollars, the bank is in trouble.

(Though make that a billion, these days.)
