I think the hive mind goes much deeper than information.

When I was a child, I vividly remember laying on the porch, studying this ant, when it stopped and there was this tiny cone of awareness, waving around with its antennae. I came to realize at an early age that what some people refer to as “floaters” are others conscious focus bumping into mine.

The fact is that we all carry these wireless devices in our pockets, that transmit lots of information. Given the billion years of evolution, wouldn’t we have evolved similar abilities? The light really is a wireless connection and we only seem to see the most focused contrasts. There is a lot more to see, in the middle distance, where the energy swirls around. Then letting it seep into the more intuitive, less judgmental areas of the mind. Turning ourselves into an antenna. It’s all in the tuning.

For one thing, as mobile creatures, with a sequential process of perception and a narrative based culture, we think of time as the point of the present, moving past to future, but it is change, turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.

There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, aka, causality and conservation of energy.

Time is an effect, like temperature, pressure, color and sound. Think frequencies and amplitudes. Ideal gas laws correlate volume with temperature and pressure, but we don’t call them the 5th and 6th dimensions of space, because they are only foundational to our emotions, bodily functions and environment, not the sequence of thought.

Reality is this dichotomy of energy and form. Galaxies are energy radiating out, as form coalesces in. We have the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us on, while the central nervous system sorts, orders and further condenses the forms/information precipitating out.

As societies are the organic energies pushing out, as the civil and cultural forms coalesce in. Youth and age, liberal and conservative.

So the energy, as process, goes past to future forms, as the forms rise and fall, future to past.

As consciousness goes past to future, while thoughts and feelings go future to past.

I could go on, but the point is that this current consumer culture, with its innumerable addictions to reconcile our souls, is frankly primordial.
