I think the problems go to the foundations of culture and we are only reaching the point they become parabolic.
When the premises are flawed, all the shut up and calculate is just garbage in, garbage out.
For one thing, the fallacy of monotheism is that ideals are not absolutes.
Consider a person who viewed their ideals as absolute and you will begin to understand many of the rabbit holes the various tribes seem to be swirling down.
As mobile organisms, this sentient interface our body has with its situation functions as a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate, so our sense of time is the present going past to future, but the reality is that activity and the resulting change turns future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
Given that perceptual flow is foundational to human knowledge, it means much of our culture is similar to epicycles. Modeling the cosmos swirling east to west, before understanding the earth turns west to east. We just have to keep patching the holes in the previous patches, but it all only gets more chaotic.
I could go on, but find few willing to examine the foundations.
