I think the real center of the modern world is Istanbul, aka, Consantinople.
Instead of giving the Israelis the more war they need to validate their beliefs, the Iranians, aka, Persians, should make an enormous diplomatic row over the killing of Haniyeh, as it shows beyond doubt that the Israelis are not interested in negotiations.
So threaten a walkout of the United Nations, unless they are some effort to wrap Israel in that padded jacket it so totally needs.
Then threaten so start an alternative international mediating body. I think Istanbul/Turkey would be the ideal place, as bridge between East and West, as well as North and South.
I suspect much of the East and South would be easy to convince.
Jerusalem is more a religious icon, than point of intersection.
