I think they are all children playing with matches in a dry forest.

The fact is life is short and we keep having to learn the same lessons over every few generations.

We are linear, goal oriented creatures in a cyclical, circular, feedback generated reality, so the future is a continuation of the past, until it becomes a reaction to it.

As I see it, the Russians had a pretty significant reality check, with the fall of the Soviet Union and we are reaching a similar precipice. Remember we seem to keep finding other countries to blow up, or generally overthrow, from Central America to the Middle and Far East.

Eisenhower warned us about the implications of the military industrial complex and they still won't release the final reports on the Kennedy assassination.

The people with the guns are loath to set them down. On either side.
