I think under all the math and the PhD's, there is a very simple model here.
At their most basic, galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in.
What is the relationship between the energy and any information/structure/definition we can extract from it? Are they synonymous, or not? Given all our theories are based on the information, it would be a serious change of perspective, if they are not synonymous.
Consider that as these mobile organisms, this sentient interface between our body and its situation functions as a sequence of perceptions, in order to navigate. So our experience of time is as the point of the present, moving past to future. Physics codifies it as measures of duration.
Yet the obvious reality is that change is turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns. Duration is the present, as the events coalesce and dissolve.
There is no dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it. Causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
So the energy is "conserved," because it is this presence, creating time, temperature, pressure, color and sound. Time is frequency, events are amplitude.
The energy goes past to future, because the patterns it's generating rise and fall, future to past.
Energy drives the wave, while the fluctuations rise and fall.
Energy and information go opposite directions of time.
Consciousness also goes past to future, while the perceptions, emotions and thoughts giving it form and structure go future to past. Though it's the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy and feeding the flame, while the central nervous system sorts the information. So it does go the basis of our physiological existence.
Of course, ideal gas laws correlate volume with temperature and pressure, but we don't presume them to be extensions of space, even though they are as foundational to our emotions and bodily functions, as sequence is to thought.
Safe to say though, the fields of theoretical physics don't accept any ideas outside their chosen canonical models. With which they would rather wander off into post empirical theorizing, than question.
