I would tend towards Wallace’s view, that Trump is more symbolic of the age, than at all uniquely evil, special, bad, megalomaniacal, etc. Compared to many of the sociopaths pulling the strings, I wouldn’t even rank him in the top 10%, in terms of pure evil. He apparently doesn’t even molest adolescents!

I seriously doubt he will rise above this dilemma and the only reason he might win a second term is that the Democratic party is proving to be equally corrupt and even dumber than the nutcases enabling Trump’s antics. As such, he is a fitting farewell to the age.

It will be best to try putting the whole mess in the rearview mirror and sense which is healthy social tissue and which is necrotic. The bacteria are going to be swarming over the fountains of cash being poured out over the economy and the smell, as it composts/rots, will be overwhelming. Cover your noses.
