If you really want to get rid of the monarchist system, you have to go after monotheism.

Logically a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which we rise, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which we fell. Ideals are not absolutes.

Democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures. The family as godhead.

The Romans adopted a monotheistic sect as the state religion around the time the empire solidified out of the ashes of the Republic, basically because the Big Guy rules.

When much of the rest of the West went back to more broad based political systems, it required separation of church and state, essentially culture and civics. While the British king is still the nominal head of the Anglican Church.

Given the degree to which the system is breaking down, the opportunity to seriously push the reset button is greater than ever.
