It certainly is an interesting phenomena.
Certainly most Native Americans and probably a majority of Africans would trade histories of persecution with the Jews any day.
Believe it or not, but hating on one's neighbors is a human thing. Frankly carried to a high art form in those border lands between East and West, the Balkans to the Black Sea. Which seem to be where the Zionists started from.
Is any introspection possible, or is it just an icon of the culture, that everyone else is mean?
My sense, much re-enforced by stuff being put out in the last few months, is the core of Jewish culture is the Torah, the Old Testament. Which would seem to be a paean to a Bronze Age tribe and its various trials and tribulations. The focus of which was its Covent with God, the Ten Commandments.
Basically don't knock the tribal spirit, don't mess with your neighbor's wife, or take his stuff and just be happy with what you do have and don't be bothering the tribe/tribal spirit with a lot of wishful thinking, ie, covetousness.
Great set of rules for a Bronze Age tribe, stuck out in some desert, but not quite yet trial by a jury of one's peers, freedom of speech, etc.
Now this obsession with the group spirit first caused trouble when the Zealots didn't concede to the Romans being more powerful and got themselves kicked out. Apparently not a large fraction of the Jews, most of whom just went along, some remaining Jewish, some converting to Christianity and some to Islam.
Meanwhile, the Zealots became the foundation of Diaspora Judaism.
At which point I would observe the logical flaw in modern monotheism, the all-knowing absolute, in the words of Pope John Paul 2, is the ideals are not absolutes.
Truth beauty, platonic forms are ideals. The core codes, creeds, heroes, narratives at the center of every culture are ideals.
Th universal, on the other hand, is the elemental. So a spiritual absolute would be the essence of sentience, from which life rises, not an ideal of wisdom and judgement, from which it fell.
The light shining through and animating the film, than the stories playing out on it.
Democracy and republicanism originated in pantheistic cultures. The various ideas, metaphors, ideals that make up public perceptions and social interaction.
In this ancient world, monotheism basically equated with monoculture. One people, one rule, one god. It should be noted Ancient Israel was a monarchy. The Big Guy Rules, like the religion.
The Christian Trinity originated out of fertility rites. The young god born in the spring to the old sky god and the earth mother. Though by the Olympians, Zeus didn't give way to Dionysus. Tradition prevailed over renewal. Which provided fertile ground for the story of Jesus' resurrection to take root, as an expression of the cycle of life, rising in the spring.
Though by the time Constantine adopted it as the state religion of Rome, it too had started to calcify, so the monotheism served to validate the Empire finally coalescing.
Thus monotheism became the eschatological basis for European monarchy. Divine right of kings, as opposed to consent of the governed.
When the West went back to democracy and republicanism, it required separation of church and state, effectively culture and civics.
It would then seem this divorce of culture and civics goes to Israel's civil conflicts, between the centripetal and centrifugal aspects of Israeli society, much in evidence before Oct 7th. The extremely inward focus of the religion, versus the very European cosmopolitanism of the rest of the society. It is simply lacking that 2000 years of social evolution and civil responsibilities of having a state to give feedback to the culture.
Now my sense is you are fairly partisan on any issue relating to Israel, but it really does exist in this larger world and it is very doubtful that tribal god is coming down to save it this time either and the only long term strategy the Israeli leadership has, besides killing all the Amaluks, is the Samson option. Though the religious Jews might sacrifice some more red heifers.
The problem, at least from my moderately sympathetic view, is that when the feedback loops don't have any circuit breakers, it becomes an echo chamber and as such a closed system, is subject to entropy. Swirling around the drain in the center.
Take this as you will, but maybe, just maybe, look outside the bubble.
