It goes a lot deeper than just addiction. At some level, education is indoctrination. We can't be part of society without settling into some form of cultural framework, which tends to calcifiy over time and the tools become gods. Like money.

What those with any sense have to realize is that some degree of judgement is required. Nature is cyclical, circular and feedback generated, while people tend to be linear and goal oriented. So sometimes, more is not always better. Both sides seem to think they are on the road to nirvana and those going the other way must be on the road to hell, while it is both sides feeding that feedback loop tearing society apart, as those with the most power and influence surf the wave of their particular crowd.

Neither side is going to win, but only those rising back up from the ashes will understand that.
