It would seem any college math department would be the local sacred space. "It from bit" would be the computationalist's version of "Jesus Saves."
Is reality fundamentally information? Is it information all the way down?
I would argue it's the dichotomy of energy and information.
Consider galaxies; Energy radiates out, as form coalesces in. Our bodies have the digestive, respiratory and circulatory systems processing the energy driving us, while the central nervous system processes the forms precipitating out.
As these mobile organisms, with a sequential process of perception and a narrative based culture, we think of time as the point of the present, moving past to future. Yet it is change, turning future to past. Tomorrow becomes yesterday, because the earth turns.
There is no literal dimension of time, because the past is consumed by the present, to inform and drive it, aka, causality and conservation of energy. Cause becomes effect.
Energy is "conserved," because it is the present. Its changing configuration creates the effect of time.
As well as temperature, pressure, color, sound, etc. Think frequencies and amplitudes.
So the energy, as process, goes past to future, while the patterns generated go future to past. As consciousness goes past to future, while thoughts and emotions go future to past. Heart versus head.
Think of a wave; The energy is what drives it, yet what we perceive are the undulations and fluctuations. Frequencies and amplitudes.
So if we think of reality only in terms of the forms and patterns, the information, we miss a big part of the picture.
Are quanta energy, or information? If they are only the information, it might explain a few mysteries.
