It would seem structure is inherently centripetal. Intellectual as well as physical.

Consider galaxies are energy radiating out, as structure coalesces in.

The signals our minds pick out of the noise are what resonates and synchronizes with our prior knowledge. Each layer building on and adding to the previous, like rings of a tree. Going back to earliest childhood memories. Which is a centripetal process, as anything not fitting in is radiated out as noise.

Consider the light you see is what is reflected off surfaces, not what is absorbed by them.

Religions are like those childhood memories and lessons of cultures.

Yet the larger reality, the networks in which these nodes rise and fall, is harmonization. All the waves rising and falling across infinity.

We exist somewhere in the middle, between the black holes and the black body radiation. Where our bodies are as much networks of cells, as our societies are networks of individuals.

The problem with monotheism is that it has imparted a monolithic paradigm onto Western Civ, where we are constantly trying to frame everything in terms of some larger model, be it monotheism, mathematical theories of everything, or just basic monetization of everything.

Which creates two problems. For one thing, reality is better conceived dualistically, where the polarities are two sides of the larger whole, like liberal versus conservative. The anarchies of desire versus the tyrannies of judgement. When the liberals run amok, puberty becomes a fascist plot. When the conservatives run amok, we are off holy warring the infidels again. Up/down, good/bad, positive/negative, etc. Without the ups and downs, it would be a flatline.

The other issue is these models are structures. So they are nodes in the larger networks. They break down over infinities and disappear at zero and everything in-between is relational. If you try including all the information of the territory into the map, any signal is lost back into the noise.

So it works better to keep collections of such mental tools in the tool box, not just looking for the one big hammer. Generals lead armies, specialist is about one rank above private.

While I have various essays covering different aspects, this might be a good one to get some idea;
