It's not really about morality, as it is strategy.

We dumped about as much bombs on the Koreas as we did on Germany and Japan. After Japan had invaded them. They are naturally paranoid.

For the United States, the MIC is primarily a public works project. The wars are a consequence of it being the only tool in the tool box, when the politicians need something flashy to show they are doing something.

Given it is all about domestic opinion, than any actual strategy, this current bombing the crap out of Syria and Iraq is probably more about getting Ukraine off the front pages, as it implodes.

Don't want those pictures of the helicopters flying off the embassy roof to be top of the news, right before the election.
