It's safe to say that mathematicians live in their own special place.

Platonism was originally theistic in nature. Either that some monotheistic entity created perfect forms, of which we see the imperfect, "fallen" expressions. Or the essential pantheistic version, that there was some perfect, ideal form, that was essentially the god of that particular category.

Necessarily this top down descriptive assumption fell afoul of evolution, that these current forms evolved upward, through various processes, feedback loops, networks, etc.

Might it be that mathematical models are descriptive structures that are expressions of conceptually similar evolutionary processes, from say, a fluctuating vacuum?

Then the difference between realists and antirealists is also an evolutionary speciation, between those seeing these elementary patterns as deterministic, rather than simply determined, versus those seeing both the process of creation and the process of discovery as being related.
