I've never really used twitter, simply because it usually takes at least a few paragraphs to express a coherent argument. So it does produce the kind of shallow conversation the system allows.

It originally seemed to be designed like a newsfeed. Scrolling through headlines to see what's interesting, but all websites do that, to some extent. Consequently one should find those sites most likely to lead to good stories, not just wade through oceans of jibberish.
