Keep in mind as well that the United States went on a rampage across the Middle East, after 9/11. It has proven to be a strategic failure.

15 years after the Iran Iraq War, we basically gifted Iraq, the one we were supporting, to Iran. Then after trashing Afghanistan, hand it over to the Taliban.

I may well be wrong, but my sense is that Israel is also shooting itself in the foot.
