Keep in mind that before you do any math, you need some axioms to work with and if those are flawed, it becomes garbage in, garbage out.

Epicycles were brilliant math, but the earth as the center was flawed.

Computers can "shut up and caluculate," but what they can't do, is think outside the box/question the premises of the program. To a very real extent, I've found the same applies to math and mathematicians.
