Leopards and lions are organisms in their ecosystem. Nodes in their network. They both have useful strategies for surviving in it. Our problem is we are destroying our ecosystem. The reason why a disease like Ebola doesn't kill anything and everything is that it kills its host too quickly, so it can’t spread beyond close groups. What we have to learn is too slow down and allow our ecosystem to recuperate, but we have a culture where we feel we can’t slow down, or someone else will beat us to whatever the goal is. Which is generally the bottom line of accumulating money.
As goal oriented creatures, we are constantly seeking the signal in the noise, but have lost sight of the fact that noise is necessarily the context of the signal. The network to the node. The ecosystem in which the signal exists. So we seek money and lose sight of the fact it is a tool and medium that enables society and the economy to function, not a god, or ideal, or signal to be extracted. The yin is meaningless without its yang.
We do need to step back and look at the bigger picture occasionally, even if just to marvel at it. Leopards are nothing, if not patient.
