Life is that dichotomy of desire and judgement, the heart and the head. The political expression of which is liberal and conservative.

The problem is that we try filtering what is a yin and yang reality through the monist idealism, that is the long shadow of God. So each side see themselves on the one true path and the other as misbegottened fools.

Too much conservativism and it's a dictatorship.

Yet liberals can't accept a system of selection and decision among the many desires and factions, or they become conservatives.

Ultimately the one emotion left to instill order is fear, with a faceless bureaucracy to enforce it.

Which seems the direction we are headed.
