Life is that tension between the anarchy of deisre and the tyranny of judgement. The heart and the head. Politically expressed as liberalism and conservatism.
Yet we have this culture of monist idealism, where each side sees themselves on the road to nirvana and those on the other side as misbegotten fools.
The reality is that culture is built around the need to make choices. We can't have our cake and eat it too. Not every acorn gets to be an oak tree.
Yes, we do get into these feedback loops, where those who find themselves on top think the process should then be stopped and use all their power to do so, bringing the whole system down with them.
Though when those on the bottom finally break through, they assume that gives them the right to be right and the cycle starts over again. Those who seek to cancel history are condemned to repeat it.
People are linear and goal oriented, while nature is cyclical and reciprocal.
God Almighty versus yin and yang.
